Charlie:

The name of the veteran was William Chesley Pickle (also spelled Pickel), who came to Texas from Anderson District, South Carolina in 1858, and settled in Pert/Plentitude, in Anderson County, Texas. I am quoting from the E-Mail stating that "he served as a private under Captain Nathaniel B. Yelverton in Company E, Volunteers, 11th Brigade, Col. L. W. Cooper, Commander, TST (8 May 1863."

I have just E-Mailed his great-great grandson, Michael Pickle, who is from Palestine, but is now living in Maine, that there have been some additional responses on this board.

Good luck.
