Re: Masonic Lodge of 1866 Houston TX

Yes, EH was a mason in Houston and I believe as early as his life as Columbia. I have not yet opened that door as I know it is an easy one to follow. His buddy WF Swain was involved more in the masons probably because he lived longer.

My Choate line goes through Tennessee and the Carolinas to Ely England and then back to Holland. Choate is an anglicized version of the word in the Dutch language which means stout. They were brought to England to build drainage canals to drain the swamps and to provide transportation on canals so often seen in England, Christopher and Squire were either brothers or cousins. Squire settled in the Carolinas and Christopher in New England. I can show one my father's and grandfather's graves in Trenton Tennessee. Then the next two in a cemetery in Williamsport Tenn. then two more in a plot at the farm north of Williams port. Grandfather # 6 came to Tenn. from the Carolinas and I am not sure how many generations he was away from Squire.

I am sure the Ky. Choate’s strayed there from Squires family.

Thanks for the other information.
