Border's Cavalry Regt. vs. Bourland's Border Regt.
In Response To: Re: Border's Cavalry Regiment ()

Jack Dubose,
.
Below is an “Editor’s note” from my book.
.
************
.
Editor’s note: Do not confuse: Border’s Confederate Texas Cavalry and Bourland’s Border Regiment.
.
1) Border’s Confederate Texas Cavalry, commanded by Col. John Pelham Border of San Augustine County TX became [T.S.] Anderson’s Cavalry in Apr 1864.
.
2) Bourland's Ranging Border Regiment, initially called The Border Regiment (Texas Cavalry, T.S.T.), was commanded by Col. Bourland, then on Feb. 10, 1865, it was commanded by Col. J.R. Diamond although a few men were assigned to Lt-Col. L.M. Martin’s 5th Partisan Rangers.
.

.
To see my description of the evolution of the naming of Bourland's Regiment, please see page 4 of 6 of my "Handouts" on:

Questions and comments are welcome.
