I have been looking around for information pertaining to the desertion of troops in the 36th Cav. Wood's Reg't. on Feb. 2 1864. I have found that a great many men deserted when they learned that they were to become dismounted cavalry. Does anyone know anything about this and especially what happened to these men. The soldier I am interested in specifically is my GG Granfather James West, Company K.
