Re: john westley bennett service record

David,

As the witnesses to his pension are Allen Roe of the 19th Texas Cavalry (Burford's), Co. A and a George W. Pevey. I can't find a George W., but there is a William W. Pevey in the 19th Texas Cavalry. I presume this man was a member of the 19th Texas Cavalry, a regiment in Parson's Texas Brigade, which was recruited in Dallas, Tyler, and Hillsboro, and in Ellis and Dallas counties. He "may" be an undocumented member of this unit for I see no CMSR for him in the NARA index.

As another hint, here is a biography of a James Madison Bennett, also of Company "B" of the 19th Texas Cavalry (Burford's). Any relation?
