Re: Ranger CPT Gideon Graham - Coryell County, TX

Hi,
My wife is a direct decendant of Captain Gid.
Her dad is John Gideon Graham, son of Cyril, son of Gideon, son of Jesse Abner,Son of Captain Gideon Graham, Son of John,Son of William alexander (original Graham progenitor in North america). Suan grew up part in Texas and part in germany, we live in Belgium with our 20 month old son Luka William Alexander. capt Gid. was born in 1818 in Alabama and died sept. 23 1900 in Holder Pickens co in Indian Territory. He is burried in Lebanon co Oklahoma. (no headstone on grave) He was married to Ellisabeth Minnix and later to her sister Mary jane
There were eight children Jesse Abner 1841, John Wesley 1844, Tipton Bradford 1847, Robert 1849, Samuel Alexander 1851(killed by commanches), Sarah Elisabeth 1852, Patty (died as infant) Hannah 1859

The family tree goes back to 1150 (scotland)and includes illustrious members as William killed at the battle of Flodden,Sir John with the bright sword, Malise earl of Strathearn, Patrick (knight and earl of Streathearn about 1400), Patrick Laird of Kincardine, Sir David III Graham Laird Dundaff, David Graham I of Kinnabar

Family history has it that they are also related to Jesse Grimes (alternate period spelling) who signed the Texas decl. of independance.

It seams the Graham's got land in Alabama for fighting the seminoles and as the Family prospered and grew, part moved west to Texas.

so the migration went (it seems) from scotland to to Ireland to Pennsylvania to North carolina to Alabama to Texas (to Germany due to air force stationing and finally to Belgium). My wife's aunts and uncles all still live in Texas. Are you related??

Hope to have been of help.

bye Eric
