Marion Teferteller--29th TX Cavalry, Co. A

Hello,

Could anybody help with this? My great-great-grandfather Marion W. Tefertiller (muster rolls list him as M.W. Teferteller; some different misspellings were Terfertiller, Teffertiller, Terfiter)was in the 29th TX Cav., Co. A. He enlisted in Denton Co. with his brother, John N. Tefertiller, who was in Co. K of the 29th, and his brother-in-law, James Heape (listed as Heaps) who was also in Co. K.

Marion's son George B. Tefertiller was told that his father died in the Civil War. Either the story died with George or he didn't know the story, because we have no idea what battle he died in and where he was buried. Now, I know that many died of disease, but we have no idea. There was some speculation that it could have been at Cabin Creek, but no proof suggests that. We know that there were some deserters, but unless my great-grandfather was lied to by whomever told him that his father died, we don't know that he was one of the deserters--most likely, not one at all.

He isn't even listed on some documents as being part of the 29th (which he was), so this is much harder than expected. Many people doing our family history are stumped by this.

If anybody knows anything about this, and/or would have pictures of the 29th TX Cavalry, please contact me at BigRuss610@aol.com. I and my entire family researchers truly appreciate it.
