Leftwich men of North Texas; Camp Magruder *LINK*

Quoting Martha Slater:
.
I am searching for information about the 2nd TX Cavalry, Co A, in the CSA ..My ancestor J. L. Leftwich was a 4th Sergt. in that unit in 1863-64 and I have two "cards" representing his service. They say he enlisted July 27, 1863 at Camp Magruder for 6 months, but I can't find a Camp Magruder. The other card says "County of residence: Titus; date of enlistment Jan 25, 1864". ..Can you tell me where I can find more information?

.
Correction: The "2nd TX State Troops Cavalry, Co A" is a Texas State Troops unit, not a Confederate unit.
.
Below are two citations from my 1,046-page book: (1) location of Camp Magruder and (2) a receipt showing Captain A.B. White of Bourland's Border Battalion, a "Texas State Troops" unit in July 1863.
.
Camp Magruder, (Confederate), Col. D.H. Cooper’s headquarters, near Perryville, Choctaw Nation, I.T., Moshulatubbee District, Tobucksy County on Mar 4, 1863, now Pittsburg County. per ORs1v22/2[S#33]p801.
.
1863 Choctaw Nation, I.T., Boggy Depot, (now Atoka Co OK), Jul 29.....(a receipt) ..“July 29, Receipt for purchase of 852 pounds of corn for 71 horses, purchased from Capt. W.H. Wooten, (signed) A.B. White, for Bourland Border Battalion.” This was Captain A.B. White of Company “D” of Bourland’s Regiment from Whitesboro, Grayson County, Texas. per Nat. Archives CSA, Bourland’s Regt. (see vIp240.)

There were two men named "J. L. Leftwich" ... one in the 1860 Parker Co TX cen p468 and one in the 1870 Marion Co TX cen p434. ..Which "J. L. Leftwich" is yours? ..I could not find the following Leftwich men in the censuses. ..Do you know these Leftwich men listed in my 152-page Name Index?

Martha Slater’s response:
.
My J. L. Leftwich (John L. Leftwich) is the one from Marion County, TX. ..He is on the 1870 census but not the 1880. He wife is on the 1880 married to another man, so I assume John died, but I don't know when or where, or where he is buried.
.
Yes, I do know the other Leftwichs you mentioned. ..They are brothers of my Joel Leftwich, including the John above.
.
L. B. Leftwich, b. 1835, 11th TX Cav, Titus County enrolled as a private in the Texas Militia Infantry Co on 15 June 1861 at Mount Pleasant in Titus County. ..The following web site features him.
.
http://www.11texascav.org/regiment/i_co2.shtml
.
Wm. Leftwich, older brother, b. 1818 was with the state troops when he was killed on 25 January 1864 by deserters he was sent out to round up. ..I can't find military records for him, but his wife Rutha filed for his back pay and won.
.
James F. Leftwich was the oldest brother of the group, and I have no military records for him, so I'm not sure if this is MY Jas. F. Mine was 50 years old in 1860 and living in Cass County. ..There was one more son, Littleberry Leftwich, b. 1829 that I can't find. ..I did find a Littleberry Leftwich serving from Tennessee, but that would be unusual since all his brothers were in Texas. ..Martha Slater

.
The "Texas Militia Infantry" was a Texas State Troops unit. ..The definition and moniker of the Texas State Troops kept changing. ..In my book on page vIIpA-1, I defined - at least tried to define - the Texas State Troops on a single page after many woman hours.
