I am trying to find out more about Company C and K, 18th Tx Infantry. My ggfather was John B. Atkins who served in Company K between Apr 1861-1865. Another date given is he joined 12 May 1862. Another ggfather was James O. Odom serving in Company C, joining on April 7, 1862 in Rusk TX, captured on June 3, 1863 in Richmond La, sent to military prison in Memphis, Tenn, moved to Alton Prison in Illionis and died there on 30 Aug 1863.
