Thanks for the information. There is also a James O. Odom that is recorded on the Alton Prison records as dying as a POW. He married Jemima Atkins 15 Aug 1856 in Cherokee couty Tenn. He was the son of James Odom and Margaret Pickens; born in Mississippi, died 30 Aug 1856 in Alton Illinois. Could there be two in the 18th infantry?
