This is the info. on Nicholas H. Wren:

Nicholas was a private in the 13th Regiment, Co. D, Bates Regiment, CSA . He enlisted July 14, 1862 in Tyler, Smith Co., TX. He was present on muster rolls July through October 1862. On October 20, 1862 he was admitted to the 13th TX Infantry Hospital in Velasco TX for Remittent Fever. He was released October 31, 1862. He was furloughed for disability November 12 - December 22, 1862 and was extended. He was absent from muster roll January-February 1863. He was readmitted to the hospital September 25 - October 1, 1863 for Intestinal Fever, and again October 14 - October 15, 1863. He was present on the muster roll for November and December 1863. He was readmitted to the hospital December 1 - December 9, 1863 for Catarrhus. He was admitted to the hospital April 6, 1864 and died of Gastritis the same day.

I have not yet sent for John J. Wren's military record.
