Re: N.C. Gould's 23rd Texas Regiment Cavalry

Thx for your input Alan. I spoke to Dr. Sumner today at the War College in Carlise, PA., the Dr. is almost like a walking book on units and battles. He was NOT aware of a Texas Company at Fort Donelson either. He did suggest several ideas however to check into. Having been at NARA in DC several times in relation to Camp Chase I have a lot of copied information about Chase including the long list of prisoners who were captured at Donelson. Of course it was the officers who were taken to Chase, along with the blacks. There are just too many junior officers who were with Gould's Texans at Chase to make up one lone company. Rather I am seeing officers from future Company K and known Company D at Chase. I'm afraid I will have to check about 30 CMSR's at DC to try and figure this one out. For some reason I want to say that Company D. of the 23rd or future 23rd Texas Regiment of Cavalry was attached to the 32nd Tennessee. However I could be wrong about that.
