There is a record for a:

Pvt. Y. J. [John] Caldwell, age 26 enlisted in Capt. H. W. Fisher's Company, 3rd Regiment, Sibley's Brigade Mounted Volunteers, this company was successively designated as Captain Fisher's Company 3d Regiment, Sibley's Brigade Mounted Volunteers, Captain Fisher's Company, 7th Regiment Texas Volunteers, and Company G, 7th Regiment Texas Cavalry, August 24, 1861,

Card No. 5 - Pvt. John Caldwell, Co. B arty 77 mv? appears on a Register of General Hospital, Franklin, Texas, Disease Febris Venittens [?], April 5, 1862, June 22, 1862.

My internet page would not completely open, I would assume he was admitted to the Hospital on April 5, 1862, and was either discharged or died June 22.

You will need to obtain hard copies of his files to ascertain.
