William L. Gresham

The service Record of W. L. Gresham Co., B., 12th Texas Infantry, says he enlisted Nov 1861 in Rusk Co., Texas for a period of three years or the war. He was present on the Company rolls in May & June 1862 and also Jan &Feb 1863 On Compan Muster roll for May & June 1863 it says he was last paid June 1, 1863. On the Present or absent line it reads, Dead. In the Remarks; it reads Killed and under that is the date June 23, 1863.
Does any one have any information Where the 12th Texas might have been on that date or what Battle or skirmish they might have been in. William L. Gresham was my great grandfather, James H. Gresham's brother. James H. Grisham (Gresham) was in the 11th Texas Infantry and I understand the 11th
and 12th Texas Infantry were together most of the time in the war.

The Family Bible of Nancy Gresham, his mother, says William L. Gresham died
June 23, 1863. No other information.

I have a copy of a letter by Pvt W.L. Gresham to his mother in Rusk Co., Texas. stating the condition of things in Co. B., 12th Texas Infantry at Camp Hebert, Hempstead, Texas, in Dec 1861
