-On June 25, 1864, Confederate forces under John S. Ford overran companies A and C of the 1st Texas Cavalry (US) at Rancho Las Rucias (or Las Rinas) up the Rio Grande from Brownsville. My G-G-grandfather, Thomas Ingenhuett of Comfort, TX, was a sergeant in company C and was captured by the Confederates during the engagement. I have Ford's report of the battle from the O.R. but I would be interested in other accounts. Do any exist? Any information would be appreciated.
