Please help us learn more about "Captain James M. Roark", who wrote the following 1893 or 1897 letter for “Private John Annis Lafferty” of Hutchinson County TX as proof that Lafferty served in Roark’s Company H of Colonel Charles Lynne Pyron’s 2nd Texas Cavalry - Mounted Rifles - 2nd Arizona Brigade.

Horton, Texas? ..Where was Horton, Texas (i.e., what county)? That is where he was when he wrote the subject ? 1893 letter. for Private John Annis Lafferty of Hutchinson County TX. ..A facsimile of Captain James M. Roark's 2-page ? 1893 letter can be seen on my webpage:

To all whom it may concern:

This is to certify that Jno A. Lafferty was a member of Co "H" 2nd Regt. Tex. Cav. C.S.A. from the 13th
day of April 1861 until the close of the War in May 1865 and during all that time he was a true and faithful
soldier he was wounded on the 21st day of June 1863 at the Battle of LaFouche crossing before
Thibedeauville in Thibodeauville [Lafourche Parish], La. I never gave any of my company a discharge
when the war ended we marched out from under the guns of the Federal Gun boats and came home with all
our arms and horses so we were neither paroled nor discharged.

Pyron; [James M.] Roark
Capt Co. "H" regt. Tex Cav.
C.S.A

Who was “W. I. N. Roark”? I must quickly add that also listed in Company H, Captain James M. Roark’s Company H of Pyron’s 2nd Texas Cavalry was one “W. I. N. Roark”. Was he a brother?
