On the Texas State Archive record for John T. Grisham, Pvt. reporting to A.J. Spiller, Capt. Co. B. 18th Brig, Genl. W.B. Middleton Comdg. TST-tr to CSA July, 1863 in Leon Cty for six months. Age 48, Sta at Camp Killough Aug 5-63, 45 miles travel to place of rendezv.

Record 2. Grisham, J.T. pvt. Comm. Off: John S. Durst, R.B. Nance, Capt. Co.D, 1st Batt, 2nd Brig, TST March 16, 1864 at Camp Keelough for 6 mo. Age 49

Johnny Reb replied that R.B. Nance was residing in Leon County, and post office was Centerville.

These two records have to be my ancestor. On the 1850 census for Leon County he is listed as John Gresham, age 34, on the 1860 census for Leon County, he is listed as J.T. Gresham, age 45. On the Greene County, AL census for 1840 before he came to Texas he is listed as John T. Grisham.

I am convinced that this is his record, but if his birth was 6 June 1817, the military record would be slightly off. Could this be possible? Would they have rounded off the age? There are no other Grishams in Centerville except my family. This just has to be him?

My son and grandson belong to the Sons of the Confederate chapter at Teague and are active in the reinactments and gravestone marker ceremonies.

It would mean a lot to me if I could just find their gggrandfather's record.

Thank you,

Mary Gresham
