Bourland's Border Guard; A. P. Fletcher
In Response To: Bourland's border guard ()

Mike Ertmoed,
.
I trust that your "A. P. Fletcher" is the "Amasa P. Fletcher, b-1820 SC; m-Louisiana; 1870 Cass Co TX cen p62," but I cannot be sure until I hear from the family, since it is so far from Whitesboro, Grayson Co TX where most the men of Company D lived.
.
Do you know any other Fletchers in my "Fletcher" entries from my 146-page Name Index?

If your A.P. Fletcher is from Cussetta, Cass/Davis County TX, that reaffirms one of my major contributions to Texas history, that "East Texas recruits were sent to the North and West Frontier" that I have explained on my web page:

http://www.bourlandcivilwar.com/EastTexasRecruitsToWestTexas.htm
.
I plan to publish a book about Bourland's Border Regiment and have thus far collected info on about 3/4ths of his regiment, so please send all you can re: your "A.P. Fletcher". In addition to family info, some have sent photos of family, tombstones, horses, and houses. Bourland's Border Guard also included "Additional Soldiers" not found in the archival records, only family records, that I have listed on my web page:
.
http://www.bourlandcivilwar.com/AdditionalSoldiers.htm
.
I recall that you also study the "Hefley, Heffley" family. Only one Heffley is mentioned in my book.
.
John M. Heffley, b-1822 TN; m-Jane; 1870 Parker Co TX cen p388; McCord's 46th Cav, Co C, CSA (Clay & Montague Co's, TST), A-276, A-297, A-299
.
I will be sitting on the edge of my chair until I hear from you.
