Corporal Warner Augustus Guy was born 10 December 1832 in Caroline County VA. He was the son of George Franklin Guy and Hetty Hopkins. He was Married to Sarah Francis Lawton in Powtan County, VA in 1854. In July 1860 he was living with his father and step-mother in Richmond City, VA.

Corp. Warner A. Guy enlisted on March 19, 1862 in Richmond by Col. Richardson for 3 years. Corp. Warner A. Guy was last paid by Capt Palmer on June 30th 1864.
According to the National Archives, his company was successively designated as Captain Douthat's Company of Calvary; Company C, 2d Regiment Virginia Cavalry; Company C and Company D, 3d Regiment Virginia Calvary.
The 3d (also called the 2d) Regiment VA Cavalry was formed of independent companies which had been mustered into the service of the State of VA for one year. It was transferred to the service of the Confederate States July 1, 1861, and was recorganized April 25, 1862.

Corp. Warner A. Guy was also taken prisoner of war and was in Dover, Main on May 16, 1865 where he signed a solemn oath not to take part in hostilities against the US government.

Corp. Warner A. Guy had a half-brother Lewis A. Guy also in the 3rd Cav. VA Co.D; another half brother William M. Guy 3rd Conf. Cav. Co. D Cpl.; William Scott Guy(first cousin) 3rd Va Cav. Co.E Jr. 2nd Lt.(Graduate of VMI). I am not sure of the relationships to Warner A. Guy but there were other Guy men in the 3rd VA Cav. Co. D.

Corp. Warner A. Guy was living with his half-brother in Henrico Co. on the census of 1900. He died after 1900, but I do not have the date. Corp. Warner A. Guy was buried with a headstone given to the family by CSA in Charlotte County in a small family cemetary called Cub Creek. On the headstone is written his name and CO. D, 3 VA CAV, CSA where it still stands today.
