38th GA Inf Reg organized for the War as Wright's Legion, designated 38th Inf Reg when they mustered in on 10/11/1861 - reorganized in Spring 1862 - Co 'M' became the Jo. Thompson Artillery Battery on 6/10/1862 - The Chestatee Artillery assigned as Co 'L' 5/5/1864.
