A History of Rockbridge County, Virginia by Owen F. Morton (Staunton, Va: The McClure Co., Inc., 1920), pp. 411-413, has a brief paragraph and a list of members and casualties sustained during the war. At Cross Keys on 8 June 1862, W. P. Templeton and J. Ludwick were killed; W. H. Paxton died of wounds receieved at Strasburg on 1 June 1862. Fellows named Houchens (or Houcher) and Gaylor were mortally wounded at Cross Keys. James P. and William H. Cash were wounded at Fredericksburg on 13 December 1862. At Strasburg D. A. Ott lost an arm and Thomas Paxton was wounded. C. D. Vess lost a leg at Cross Keys. The identical information to that above can also be found in Southern Historical Society Papers, ed. R. A. Brock, vol. 25, pp. 282-282, which was taken from the Rockbridge County News of 5 February 1897, as compiled by W. F. Johnston.
