Theophilus Armentrout

Hello,

I have just obtained at auction a Bible belonging to Theophilus Armentrout of Harrisonburg, Virginia. He was born on August 15, 1842, which would make him 18-19 years old in 1861, the year he received this Bible. I can only assume that he incurred Civil War service based on his age, because there is no military info in the Bible.

I have found Civil War military data on several other Armentrouts of Virginia; however, nothing on Theophilus. According to the genealogy in the Bible, his parents were Peter and Phebe Ann Armentrout. His wife (whom he married on July 11, 1878) was the former Vincentia Rodgers, born April 2, 1833. His wife died on August 16, 1907 at age 74. He had a daughter, Allie, to whom the Bible was bequeathed.

If there is any further information on Theophilus Armentrout and his (probable) Civil War service, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

Michele
