You are quite right. Mr. Applegate was an excellent character actor. During the filming of Gettysburg in 1992 I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Applegate.( My reenactment unit portrayed Confederate and Union Artillery). He seemed to be an amiable gentleman. Mr. Applegate died in a fire at his home on July 2, 2003.

I too was disappointed that The Blue and Gray DVD was edited severely.
