I quite agree with your comments. Though I took part in the film "Gettysburg" as a reenactor, I was disappointed when I saw the film. The was too much rhetoric and phony ideology in the film. The same could be said for "Gods and Generals"( Which was more akin to James I. Robertson's, Stonewall, Than Jeff Shaara's work.) A much better Civil War film than either of these is Hallmark Productions' "The Colt". This film was a better representation of the war. "The Colt" dealt with the human side of battle rather than the grand scheme of things.
