Thanks. The battery was in Stevenson's division. After losing their guns and suffering very heavy casualties at Port Gibson and Champion's Hill they moved into the defenses at Vicksburg as part of Waul's Texas Legion. As to whether they had guns or not, I don't know. The Vicksburg Campaign cost the battery 41 dead. That's a lot for an artillery battery. After the siege they returned to Virginia to recuperate. During late 1863 they were refitting and in 1864 they took part in the Shenandoah Valley Campaign as part of Early's Army of the Valley. It is the period from Feb. to April 1865 that is hazy.To all who post info on this page I say many thanks.
