Allen,

My great, great Aunt Blanche married Sgt. Robert Douglass, 47th VA Infantry, in 1891. He captured a Federal soldier's diary in a pile of knapsacks at Chancellorsville and wrote in it throughout 1863. He actually returned it to the soldier after the war and you can read it on-line. after the war Sgt. Douglass became the clerk of court in Lancaster Co., VA and was active in the United Confederate Veterans for nany tears. His UCV uniform was given to the War Memorial Museum in Norfolk.

Our family still owns a small tract of timberland that was part of the family farm near Brookvale, VA. Our fifth cousin lives in the plantation home across Route 3.

I am glad you treasure your Confederate ancestry.

Sincerely,

Geoffrey Lee Hill
