William R. Brown, 25, Private, Captain Henry Fitzgerald’s Company, Ordnance Department Battalion*
Joined for duty and enrolled July 17, 1863 at Carbine Factory, Richmond, Va.
Transferred to Tallassee, Alabama before 1864 years end
Paroled at Montgomery, Alabama May 23, 1865. Black hair, dark eyes, dark complexion, 5’ 7”

* This company subsequently became Company D, 1st Battalion Virginia Infantry, Local Defense Troops to serve exclusively for the defense of Richmond and vicinity, for the term of residence in that city
