I am gathering information on Confederate veteran burials to assist our local chapter of the Sons of the American Legion in decorating graves at Meade Cemetery in Amherst County. The 1915 newspaper obituary for James Preston Mays (b.1844) of Madison Heights states that he joined the confederate army a few years into the war. I have not been able to find his name in any of my resources. Can anyone help on this.
