In the COVINGTON VIRGINIAN newspaper of 6/15/1927 there is an obituary for John W.Jennings,"a brave Confederate soldier". He died at his home near Hematite in surrounding Alleghany Co. and was buried in family burying ground near that place. He does not seem to have gotten a Confederate pension. In Cedar Hill Cemetery in Covington there is a John William Jennings(2/14/1845-6/13/1927). This John was found on findagrave.com. Same person,reburied?
