Absalom Holland, Private, Capt. Roberson Arnold’s Company, 59th Regiment Virginia Militia [Nansemond Co.],* joined for duty and enrolled February 19, 1862 at Suffolk, Va. by Capt. W. L. Reddick for 6 months, no further records

* The 59th Regiment Virginia Militia was called into service by order of Brig. Gen. Blanchard, dated February 18, 1862. The number of men who reported for duty appears to have been sufficient to form only three or four companies. The Regiment was evidently disbanded in May, 1862, and the men who were subject to conscription assigned to other organizations.
