Guillian farm Virginia, May 31, 1864

This is a detective story on how I found a new Civil War battle that is not listed in Frederick dyers compendium of the war of the rebellion

I was reading Robert H Moore 2nd's book on graham's Petersburg battery and I found a reference to a fight the battery was in on May 31, 1864 at the Gatlin farm

I checked the volume 10 of the official records of the Union and Confederate neighbors. On page 109 I found a reference to the fight.

Two union war ships were engaged in a battle against four pieces of confederate artillery at 4 mile creek also known as Gillian bar. This apparently refers to a sandbar.

I believe the four pieces of artillery Were graham's Petersburg battery
