Enlisted on 5/16/1861 at Covington, VA as a Private.
On 5/16/1861 he mustered into "A" Co. VA 1st Battn Infantry
He was discharged on 11/16/1861
* Hospitalized 7/19/1861 Richmond, VA (Until discharge)
(Probably P. J. Harrington buried Cedar Hill Cemetery,
Covington, VA no dates.)

Patrick Harrington, Private, Company A, 1st Battalion Virginia Cavalry (1st Battalion Virginia Regulars, Irish Battalion), enlisted May 16, 1861 at Covington for 3 years, left sick July 19, 1861 in the hospital at Camp of Instruction, Richmond, recorded on the November, 1861 Regimental Return as Unofficially reported discharged.

Note, the Battalion served as Provost Guard in the Army of Northern Virginia
