I just stumbled on this thread after learning that my great-great Grandfather was Samuel Jackson Sneed and is reported to have been in Foley's unit.

I appreciate the information that y'all have shared, and I'm only writing to clarify the spelling of Samuel's last name (Sneed, not "Snead,").

I have received conflicting information about Samuel's end. Some information given to me by an elderly aunt states that Samuel died in battle with Foley's fighters, but other information claims that he may have died after the war due to disease.

I would love to be able to clear this confusion up, so if anyone can point me to any deeper information, I would greatly appreciate it.
