Researching what happened to Joseph B. Shepherd (and all variants i.e. Shephard, Shepard, Sheppard, Sheperd, Shepperd). Born @1831 in or near Lynchburg, Va. Found in 1860 Census of Lynchburg, Va. A newspaper article has him marrying Jane Jenkins "just outside of Lynchburg" with the parties all of Campbell County. Have found no license or minister's return for this marriage. Funeral account for burial of a child August '62. Enlisted in Hardwicke's Light Artillery "Lynchburg Lee Battery" along with his brother Richard on 5-28-61. Present as late as 12-64. Nothing after that on either Joseph or his wife. Any help would be appreciated.
