Richard Shepherd, 26, Capt. Hardwicke’s Company (Lee Battery) Virginia Light Artillery, Formerly Capt. Raine’s Cp. and Capt. Anderson’s Co. Virginia Light Artillery, served in Andrews’ and Braxton’s Battalion Reserve Artillery, enlisted June 7, 1861 for the war, by Maj. H. L. Clay in Capt. Pierce B. Anderson’s Co. of Light Artillery (Lee Battery) at Lynchburg, Va., absent at October, 31, 1862 muster, under arrest at Brandy Station, his record contains a note titled Court Martial, dated March 9, 1864, receipted for issues of clothing in 1864 signing with an ‘X’ [his mark], present at the December 31,1864 muster, surrendered and paroled April 9, 1865 at Appomattox Court House, Va.
