Thanks much for the input. We seem to have run into
the same dead-end.
What prompted all this is a requisition in Smith's name
dated Dec. 16, 1864 "for three battle flags for use of the
batteries at Howlett's Farm". It goes on "The arty batteries
of this Command have none."
The three battle flags are received at Drewry's Bluff on the 16th
So it appears that Smith did indeed have a command at Drewrys.
