I assume this record is from Union sources but will ask this anyway. I have a 2G Grandfather, Marcellus Washington Cheatham, who served in Co. H. He was shot in the ankle at Gaines Mill and it may have well saved his life for he missed out on the carnage of the Antietam and Gettysburg campaigns. He received a Furlough of Indulgence in the winter of 1865 and I don't know if he even returned for the end. He was supposedly paroled at Appomattox but that tells me nothing really since that was his home town. So, do any CSA reports for his unit exist for the period including the last few months of the war? Mike Lee, Madison Heights, VA.
