I have a lot of relatives in the 16th Virginia, Adkins, Ferguson, Crabtree, and Osburn. Unfortunately a lot of West Virginia Confederate history gets lost in Virginia history, understandably. But it was mostly West Virginians who went furthest north into Pennsylvania, about to take Harrisburg until called to Gettysburg by Gen. Lee, and then a year later returning for one of the few Confederate retaliations on Northern territory, the burning of Chambersburg. The 16th Virginia participated in both actions, under West Virginia generals Jenkins and McCausland.
