I knew there was another good source; it just took me a while to squeeze it out of my notes. There was a thin book, originally published anoynmously, probably in 1902 (even that is subject to debate), best described as [Richard Corbin], Letters of a Confederate Staff Officer to His Family in Europe During the Last Year of the War of Secession. Paris, Fr.: Neal's English Library, [1902], 99 pp. A facsimile rerpint with an introduction was published by Butternut and Gray Press, Baltimore, in 1993. Corbin was an officer on Field's staff, and although there are some gaps, while he was not with the division, its got great letters which mention Field. Corbin was apparently an aide de camp. I think you would profit from consulting this one.
