Darkesville lies in what is now West Virginia! during the time of the Civil War the region was still referred to as Virginia. It gets confusing. Try looking at a map of West Virginia. You will find the town is in Berkely County. It is on Highway US 11 in the Martinsburg, W.VA.-Hagerstown, Md. Metro area.
