I think you are correct.

I was looking at an account written by one of the officers in Barringer's Brigade who was writing about Five Forks. He referred to a cavalry commander named Colonel Moon, obviously a misreading of someone's handwritten name. Can you guess who this might have been?

Also in referring to a fight on June 15, 1864 near Samaria Church, Stephen Elliott Welch of the Hampton Legion mounted infantry says, "We deployed as skirmishers and charged them with Smith's men." John Michael Priest misidentifies Smith as an officer in the 10th Georgia Cavalry which wasn't even present in the fight. I figure Smith was either in the Hampton Legion, the 7th SC Cavalry or the 24th Virginia Cavalry. Can you help me find out who this was?
