Subject: 8th Virginia Infantry, Company A, Corporal Randal Robert Carlisle

Gentlemen:

I found your website with great pleasure.

My great grand father fought in the 8th at Gettysburg.

Family records say:
Reynold Robert Carlisle enlisted Sept 3 1861 at Camp Johnson and Sept 30 1861 Waterford Va. He was admitted to the to Chimborago Hospital #2 Richmond Oct 8 1864 and returned to duty feb 3 1865. He was captured at Farmville april 6 and imprisoneed at City Point Va., and then at Pt.Lookout Md where he was released on June 24, 1865. He is said to be one of only 5 survivors of company A after Picketts charge.
He died in Little Rock in 1911.

First, I hope you all can use this information. Secondly, would you please check this against the records you have, and advise me of any errors, discrepencies, and any other information you might possess concerning my ancestor and his company.

Thanking you in advance,

Toni Vaughn
