To Sherri:
I am having the combo research done on my ancestor. He was reputedly transferred to the 14th IN Reg.,Co. E, the "Clarksville Blues", from the 21st IN Reg.. Hopefully the researcher has access to the Fed. Gov. "General Index Cards" that were compiled on each soldier after the war. As I understand it, the cards list the soldier's name and unit information from the unit rosters. Those rosters were taken at periodic times by the units, but are now in fragile condition in the National Archives and not reviewed. I ASSUME that some of the CSA unit rosters were lost and/or destroyed during the collapse and or flight of the CSA Gov. in April 1865. Perhaps this research will highlight just how much roster information exists for the 14th IN Reg. on the Gen. Index Cards. The research takes between 2 to 4 weeks. If the researcher informs me of how much information he has to go on, I will let you know. If alot survives, it may be worth your expense to have this done on your Co. K ancestor.
