I live about 10 miles from Malvern Hill. Have you ever drank the water that comes out of the ground on the peninsula. (that's right about where the peninsula begins) The whiskey had to be good but it had to be a waste of powder. I've read accounts of Confederate prisoners that warned the anxious yankees about the dangers of the water in the swamps around the Chickahominy. Water in New Kent and Charles City Counties will stand in swampy areas above the road level that runs within 30 feet of it. It can be a merciless climate and the terrain rivals The Wilderness. And we relic hunt that......regularly. hehehe ;-)
