Thank you for the info. I will print this out to remember you. It wasn't the NARA I'm having trouble with, it's the Vermont Archives.
The web site ...www.vermontcivilwar.org site has my ancestor posted to it. So does Ancestry.com, and Soldiers and Sailors System, but Vermont states there is "NO Record" of him. This is 3rd item I have received this same answer to.
Wish I had known about your service before I jumped the gun , but I have already now ordered from NARA. But if they don't come through I'll be BACK!!

Thanks so much and for future reference, I will try to remember your service as I have other ancestors I need records for.
