The 19th Mississippi, along with the 9th, 10th, and 11th Alabama Regiments, were part of Cadmus Wilcox's Brigade. The 19th Mississippi, along with the 9th Alabama, charged through heavy fire and were halted several times by the New Jersey Brigade that they were opposing in the action near Fort Magruder. The 19th and the 9th eventually overran the 5th New Jersey Regiment and captured a battery. At he start of the Seven Days, the 19th Mississippi was be replaced in Wilcox's Brigade by the 8th Alabama regiment. The 19th became part of Featherston's Brigade (all Mississippi units).
