Can anyone enlighten me on the name and story of the Confederate soldier on his way home from New Market, VA to Woodstock, VA, or vice versa, who drowned in the north fork of the Shenandoah River at Mt. Jackson, VA while trying to get home? I've read about the incident somewhere, but can't recall the details. Any information would be appreciated.
