my gr. grandfarther jermiah fairburn was in the civil war 1861- 1864 and he was in new orleans when the war ended. we just found his head stone that wsa issued him by the goverment, my question is where would i find where and when he was discharged at .he sign a otah of allegiance to virginia. after the war he lived in louisiana. he was born in virginia.
