50th Virginia Infantry Co E

Re: Alpheus Madison Cox

Hello,
I'm looking for suggestions on where to find information on the 50th Infantry and Company E (Smyth Grays)in particular. I'm also hoping to find genealogical connections to Alpheus Madison Cox. He lived until 1935 in Bland County, so hopefully there are pictures of him somewhere. Below is some info on him and his service that was given to me:

* He was captured on May 12, 1864 near Spottslyvania Courthouse
* Appears on roll of Confederate prisoners from Belle Plain, Va that arrived at Point Lookout, Md on May 18, 1864
* Transferred to Elmira, NY on August 2, 1864.
* Released on June 27, 1865

Any help would be appreciated.
Brian
