Re: Luray and Stanley,Virginia Area

Will,

Your trip to Luray will be a pleasant one during that time of year. New Market Battlefield is open and the vistor's center houses a great museum called The Hall of Valor. You can walk the battlefield and The Field of Shoes and tour The Bushong Farm on the site where the VMI Cadets fought. That area of Virginia is steeped in history and is a beautiful place to visit. You'll be right in the middle of Mosby's Confederacy so get off the main roads and do some exploring. This is great horse country and the farms in the area are big and beautiful. October 20 and 21 will feature the 143rd anniversary battle of Cedar Creek at Bellegrove which is a short drive away. You can find more info at www.cedarcreekbattlefield.org and www.bellegrove.org. And if you like fishing and hiking you are right on the South Fork of The Shenandoah River. And if your hungry try Dan's Steak house on Rt 211 between Interstate 81 and Luray. Have fun.

Keith
